DIY papercut Star Wars snowflakes are all the rage these days (here, here, here), but what if you’re not that crafty? Or your mom won’t let you use the sharp knife? Successfully finishing one of those designs takes some fine motor skills and attention to detail that not everyone possesses. Now you won’t be left out, with these three easy papercut Star Wars snowflakes that anyone can do.
Fold a sheet of paper and cut the excess to make a square. If you leave it folded (and you should), it’ll be a triangle. Save the cut-off piece for the next snowflake.
Fold the triangle in half, then in half again, until you’re left with a piece that looks like a slice of pizza. Trim the crust of the pizza to round it.
Unfold the paper until you’re left with a half-circle. Cut a half-circle out of that half-circle.
Congratulations! You’ve made a cut-paper Death Star!
The next one is a little more complicated, but it can be made with the piece left over from squaring the Death Star’s paper.
Fold the paper in half, in half again, in half again, then into thirds, then in half again if you’re strong enough. Don’t be a baby.
Now cut the hell out of it. Little pieces! Watch your fingers!
Congratulations! You’ve made a cut-paper Alderaan!
I’ve saved the most complicated for last. Fold a new sheet of paper into an M-fold. If you’re contrarian, a W-fold would work too.
Cut it out according to the photo below. No, I’m not going to make a PDF pattern of it for you.
Unfold the paper, then set it on fire.
Congratulations! You’ve made your own cut-paper Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru!
